On 16th May 2025, ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) held a one-day refresher training for its 16 community volunteers at its Corporate Headquarters.
The training focused on strengthening the use of Advocacy, Communication, and Social Mobilization (ACSM) tools under the CSO Polio-led Strategy Project in Sokoto North LGA. This was the third refresher since the project began in late April 2025, aimed at enhancing data capturing and field performance.
The session was led by Mr. Rufus Yagkong, AIF’s Head of Programs and Research, and Mr. Jamilu Tanko, the MEAL Manager, who guided participants using their technical expertise and field experience.
The training began with a review and presentation of data from the national polio dashboard. Volunteers were engaged in analyzing field data, identifying trends, recognizing performance gaps, and discussing actionable strategies for improvement.
The volunteers were applauded for their dedication and positive performance over the past month. Their contributions were acknowledged, and they were encouraged to continue their commitment towards achieving the project’s objectives.
Emphasis was placed on improving data capturing to reduce non-compliance with polio vaccination.
Practical sessions involved simulating the Polio ACSM Monitoring Tool and Missed Children Resolution ODK forms, with volunteers learning how to complete the right module for each activity accurately.
Clear expectations regarding field roles and deliverables were communicated to ensure accountability.
The session ended with a Q&A segment, allowing volunteers to clarify concerns and align with the new strategy for effective implementation in Sokoto North.
The refresher training improved the volunteers’ technical skills and renewed their commitment to the polio campaign. With enhanced knowledge and clearer roles, they are now better positioned to support efforts in reducing missed children and increasing vaccine uptake in the target area.
