About ASATTAHIR International Foundation

ASATTAHIR is an acronym of Aliyu Sidi Attahiru, founder and Chairman of ASATTAHIR International Foundation. It is a charitable nongovernmental and nonprofit platform conceived as a veritable framework for the articulation and delivery of people’s empowerment programmes and projects for sustainable human Development. As a nongovernmental outfit with no profit motives, the foundation focuses on critical areas of needs, particularly among the less privileged, deprived and displaced people with various kinds of vulnerabilities across the globe. The main aim of the foundation is to deepen and broaden people’s empowerment activities for sustainable human Development.

Thus the foundation acknowledged the seeming inefficiency of governments, states and even the private sector, particularly in the developing world to guarantee human Development through the provision of basic necessities of life in education, healthcare, nutrition and people’s empowerment generally. The glaring crisis of human Development in Nigeria and other parts of sub-Saharan Africa whose large segment of the population are undermined by unemployment, extreme poverty, violent conflicts and general uncertainties provide additional motivation for the foundation’s intervention in humanitarian courses. This will be achieved in collaboration with governments, International Organizations/ Development Partners, Donors, Local Nongovernmental Organizations working in diverse areas for the purpose of sustainable human Development. In one of its pilot programmes, the foundation has initiated a daily feeding scheme for one hundred vulnerable children, youth, women and physically challenged. This is with the view to boosting their nutritional requirements for a healthy life. The foundation also offers scholarship and educational support to children, youth, women and the physically challenged persons to access formal education. It also engages in enlightenment campaigns targeting various stakeholders and peace building activities in vulnerable and high risk communities for sustainable human Development.

Aim and Objectives

The main aim of ASATTAHIR Foundation is to facilitate and enhance People’s Empowerment, particularly the less privileged and vulnerable persons across the strata of the society. The specific objectives on the other hand are as follows:

  1. To provide support to the less privileged people in critical areas of need such as healthcare, education and nutrition
  2. To provide and/or facilitate the evolution of empowerment schemes for women, youths as well as Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC)
  3. To facilitate conflict resolution and peace building in the society
  4. To support and collaborate with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOs) to facilitate the attainment of their objectives in humanitarian activities
  5. To conceive and implement Community Development Programs and Projects that have direct and decisive impact on the less privileged people in the society
  6. To initiate, enhance and champion awareness campaign for the evolution of morally upright society through lectures, workshops, seminars, symposiums and periodic ‘Moral Talks’ targeting different categories of people in the society.
