*ASATTAHIR INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION (AIF) CELEBRATES ITS FOUNDER FOR THE PRESTIGIOUS RECOGNITION BY THE DEPARTMENT OF NIGERIAN LANGUAGES (KUNGIYAR HAUSA) OF THE USMANU DANFODIYO UNIVERSITY, SOKOTO*
On Tuesday 21st July 2026, the Board of Trustees, Management, Staff, and Volunteers of ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) proudly celebrate its Founder and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Aliyu Sidi Attahiru, as recipient of Meritorious Award and Certificate of Recognition from the Department of Nigerian Languages (Kungiyar Hausa) of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. The award is in recognition of his outstanding service to humanity and his remarkable contributions to the promotion and preservation of the Hausa language and its deep cultural heritage.
Held today at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Auditorium, Permanent Site. The colourful ceremony brought together eminent traditional rulers, respected religious leaders, academic scholars, senior government officials, students, and distinguished guests from across the country.
The event was led by the Chief Host, the Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Prof. Bashir Garba, MFR who was ably represented by the Dean, Student Affairs.
Alh. Isah Haruna Rasheed, the District Head of Ambursa served as the Chairman of the Occasion, while the District Head of Dundaye, Sarkin Adar Dundaye, who represented His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, served as the Royal Father of the Day. As the Special Guest of Honour, Aliyu Sidi Attahiru delivered a Keynote address, where he highlighted the beauty and richness of the Hausa cultural heritage and called for sustained efforts to preserve its enduring values of compassion, unity, love, decency, and humanity for future generations.
He noted that these values are at the heart of the work of ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF), where promoting humanity, social cohesion, and community development remains central to the Foundation’s mission.
The event featured the turbaning of the Sarkin Hausawa and Sarauniyar Hausa, as well as the recognition of distinguished individuals whose contributions have strengthened the preservation and promotion of Hausa culture. Guests were also treated to captivating cultural songs, traditional drama performances, and other artistic displays, while students from the Hausa Department and other departments actively participated in the celebration.
The event was also attended by the Executive Secretary of AIF, Prof. Yahaya Tanko Baba as well as other Members of the Board of Trustees, Management, Staff, and well-wishers, who joined in celebrating this remarkable recognition accorded to Aliyu Sidi Attahiru. This attested to his unwavering commitment to humanitarian service, cultural preservation, and community development.
