On Thursday, 16 July 2026, ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) participated in a one-day Policy Dialogue and Research Findings Dissemination Workshop organized by Caritas Nigeria in Sokoto State. The workshop was themed “Building Community Resilience through Women’s Roles in Conflict Prevention and Mediation in Northwest Nigeria.”
The event brought together stakeholders from civil society organizations (CSOs), government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), law enforcement agencies, the media, academia, and other development partners to review research findings and explore practical policy options for strengthening women’s participation in conflict prevention, mediation, and peacebuilding across Northwest Nigeria.
In his welcome remarks, the Project Manager, Mr. Jude Akwo, appreciated participants for their attendance and highlighted the devastating impact of conflict on women and communities. He emphasized the importance of evidence-based research and collaborative action in promoting sustainable peace and community resilience.
The research findings were presented by Mr. Tosin Osasuna, Lead Consultant to Caritas Nigeria, who shared evidence-based insights on the diverse roles women play in conflict prevention and mediation, while identifying opportunities to strengthen their participation in peacebuilding and community resilience initiatives.
This was followed by a policy dialogue session themed “From Evidence to Action,” where representatives of participating institutions reflected on the research findings from their organizational perspectives and discussed practical recommendations for translating evidence into effective policies and community-based interventions.
AIF was represented by its Head of Programs and Research, Rufus Yagkong, reaffirming AIF’s commitment to promoting inclusive peacebuilding, community resilience, and evidence-informed humanitarian and development programming across Northwest Nigeria.
The workshop concluded with a group photograph, marking a shared commitment among stakeholders to advancing women’s meaningful participation in conflict prevention and sustainable peacebuilding.
