Today, the 3rd of October, 2020, a delegation of the SSUATHRIAH Executive Officers from the Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru, decorated Prof. Yahaya Tanko Baba, Executive Secretary, ASATTAHIR International Foundation with Certificate of Merit and Symbolic Plaque as a mark of recognition for his contributions towards the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The delegation of the Executive Committee of the Union was represented by its Chairman, Ishaq Danbauchi Senchi, Financial Secretary, Abdulqadir Yusuf and the Secretary General, Musa Dabo.
Speaking on behalf the Union, the President, Ishaq Senchi reiterated the sacrifices made by Prof. Yahaya Tanko Baba, particularly his presentation at the Senate Public Hearing, organized by the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and tetfund. The president in his speech was full of praise of that landmark presentation, which he argued was somewhat instrumental to the favorable recommendation given by the Committee to the Committee of Whole of the Nigerian Senate.
The President further stressed that out of the three Tertiary Institutions slated for the Public Hearing (City Technology University, Kaduna, Federal University of Education, Kontagora and Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru) the Committee only recommend for the establishment of Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru. This alone, he said is a testimony to the weight of argument articulated in the Memorandum presented by Prof. Yahaya Tanko Baba.
After the presentation of Certificate, a Plaque and Medal, Prof. Yahaya Tanko Baba expressed his delight for the honor done to him and emphasized that such endeavors constitute part of Community Service that academics are expected to engage themselves for the advancement of humanity. He stressed the significance of education and the place of university education, particularly specialized Universities such as that of Agriculture established in Zuru, Kebbi state.
The low key ceremony was attended by family members, friends, well wishers of Prof. Yahaya Tanko Baba as well as partners of ASATTAHIR International Foundation.
Those who spoke during the ceremony include Alh. Sambo Bello Danchadi, a vetran broadcaster and former Permanent Secretary, Sokoto state Government, Dr. Abubakar Sabo Yabo, Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Usmanu Danfodiyo University chapter, Aliyu Sidi Attahiru, Founder and Chairman, ASATTAHIR International Foundation, Barrister Muazu Liman Yabo, an activist and public affairs analysts, Abubakar Sambo Bazza, an activist and analyst, Barrister Rashidat Mohammed, Legal Adviser, ASATTAHIR International Foundation and founder Rashida Mohammed Rahama Law Chambers among other dignitaries that graced the occasion.
The ceremony was rounded off with prayers and group pictures.
