The Executive members of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC), operating in Sokoto state, paid an advocacy visit to ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) on Monday, 22nd December, 2025. The visit was to congratulate AIF’s Founder, Amb. Aliyu Sidi Attahiru, MBA, FICRPC, on his admission into the African Union Ambassadorial Assembly as well as advocacy to the Foundation. The meeting explored areas of partnership, enhance information sharing, and the need for IHRC to learn from AIF’s experience and understanding of the human rights landscape in Sokoto state.
In his welcome speech, the Founder of AIF thanked the delegation for the visit and highlighted AIF’s contributions to the protection of human rights in Sokoto state, particularly among vulnerable groups such as women, internally displaced persons (IDPs), orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs), and persons living with disabilities (PLWDs). He further emphasized that AIF is a non-partisan organization committed to humanitarian and development interventions aimed at improving dignity and quality of life. Similarly, while assuring IHRC of AIF’s readiness to collaborate, he urged the Commission to uphold the principles of independence, neutrality, and impartiality in the discharge of its mandate.
In the same vein, AIF’s Head of Access and Safety, Dr. Garba Ibrahim, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to partnership in promoting and protecting the fundamental rights of all persons.
Accordingly, the IHRC’s delegation, led by its Director, Dr. Salihu Abdullahi, expressed appreciation for the warm reception and AIF’s willingness to partner in advancing human rights protection in the state. Members of the delegation included the Assistant Secretary, Director of Volunteers, Project Coordinator (Women Affairs and Counseling), and Project Coordinator (Research and Evaluation).
The meeting ended with a mutual commitment to sustained collaboration and strategic partnership towards promoting and safeguarding human dignity in Sokoto state.
