ASATTAHIR International Foundation Participated in the seminar on Mitigating Violence against Women in Electoral Process:
On the invitation of the Independent National Electoral Commission{INEC} in Sokoto State, ASATTAHIR took part in a seminar on strategies for the mitigation of violence against women in the electoral process. The seminar took place on the 31st janaury, 2019 at Dankani Guest Inn. it was attended by development partners, international bodies, security chiefs, civil society organizations, and women groups. The Resident Electoral Commissioner and convener of the seminar spoke on the need to give protection to women against electoral violence. Experts also delivered lectures on the incidences, magnitude and dimensions of violence against women in electoral process as well as as the strategies for effective mitigation of the scourge. As a follow up to the speeches and lectures delivered, the representative of the ASATTAHIR Foundation and member of the board of trustees, Sa’adatu Musa Gotomo, spoke on the need to step down mobilization and enlightenment at the grassroots in order to build the confidence of women and mainstream them in Nigeria’s electoral process. She further interacted with other CSOs, NGOs and international bodies on the objectives of the foundation and the need for collaboration to guarantee sustainable human security.
