Representative of ASATTAHIR International Foundation participated in a 2-day capacity building workshop on child protection for state and non-state actors organized by Action Against Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants in Nigeria (A-TIPSOM Nigeria) at Grand Ibro Hotel Sokoto from 30th June to 1st July 2022.
The foundation was represented by Sa’adatu Musa Gotomo with various state and non-state actors within and outside Sokoto state in attendance. The participants were introduced to the principles of child protection, dimensions of child victimization (i.e primary, secondary and tertiary) and its impact on the child as well as the legal framework in child protection.
The participants particularly state and non-state actors from Sokoto were encouraged to tap fully into the child protection act passed by Sokoto state government in 2021 to ensure speedy prevention and response to child protection concerns through advocacy, mobilization, public enlightenment and other strategies of prevention, containment and response.
At the end of the workshop, the representative of ASATTAHIR Foundation alongside other participants received Certificate of participation and completion of Training on Child Protection. Thereafter, the participants feel enthusiastic and motivated in the continous struggle, campaign and advocacy for child protection.
