ASATTAHIR International Foundation has deployed it’s research team to Katsina state to conduct research on the Dynamics of Internal Displacements and the Situational Analysis of IDPs in Northwest, Nigeria.
The research team led by the Head of Programs and Research of the Foundation Rufus Yagkong, paid a visit to Katsina State Emergency Management Agency.
The team was received by the Director Search and Rescue Iliyasu Ibrahim Rafukka, alongside Director of Finance Kabir Magaji, Director Relief and Rehabilitation Sanusi Mansur Bello as well as the Director Admin and Supply Alh. Muhammad Bashir Kaita.
The team lead thanked the management of Katsina State Emergency Management Agency for the warm welcome, he commended the agency for their resilience, and noted that the study which covers three states in the northwest i.e Sokoto, Katsina and Zamfara states expects to unearth the dynamics and the humanitarian realities faced by IDPs and effective modalities to change the narratives.
The Director Admin and Supply Alh. Muhammad Bashir Kaita expressed his happiness and commended AIF for it’s foresight and resilience in developing initiatives that would enhance the quality of life of the people particularly less privileged and IDPs.
He expressed optimism that the research findings will be helpful in building on the existing efforts by Katsina state government in addressing the humanitarian challenges as a result of internal displacements in the state and the northwest region at large.
AIF’s Head of Programs and Research Rufus Yagkong and the Director Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sokoto, Umar Isah presented a copy of the Foundation’s recently published research work on Fire Disaster Preparedness and Response in Sokoto state to the Director Search and Rescue Iliyasu Ibrahim Rafukka.
While receiving the publication, the Director Search and Rescue Iliyasu Ibrahim Rafukka assured of the Agency’s unwavering support throughout the research period in the state.
Similarly, the team paid a visit to the office of the Director General, Katsina state Bureau of Statistics for formal introduction of the Foundation and to complete the necessary due processes for the commencement of the research in the state.
The Foundation has obtain ethical approval from the agency to carry out quantitative and qualitative data collection in the state.
The Foundation has also recruited and trained enumerators in Katsina state on research ethics and the methodology of data collection using the Kobo collect tool.
