As part of activities earmarked for the commemoration of Human Rights, the Office of the Special Adviser on Human Rights, NGOs and Donor Agencies in collaboration with the state Ministry of Justice hosted stakeholders to a ceremony that commemorated turn of events and commiserated with victims and survivors of human rights in the state.
ASATTAHIR International Foundation was represented at the ceremony by its Chairman Board of Trustees, Aliyu Sidi Attahiru and the Executive Secretary, Prof. Yahaya Tanko Baba.
Highlights of the events included lectures on human rights from Islamic Perspective, the prevalence of rape as one of the treacherous
aspects of human rights abuses as well as medical implications of rape and other aspects of gender based violence.
The ceremony was graced by the representative of His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Wazirin Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu. Other dignitaries at the occasion were Special Advisers to His Excellency on Youth as well as Skills Acquisition, Chairman House Committee on Justice and Human Rights, Director General SOSACA among other personalities.
After presentations and good will messages, certificates of recognition were given to deserving individuals for their contributions to the promotion and protection of human rights in the state.
