The newly posted Zonal Commander of NAPTIP, Mr. Mapa Ali Mitika has, today, the 26th day of August, 2020 paid a courtesy visit to the Corporate Headquarters of the ASATTAHIR International Foundation. The visit according to the Commander was meant to strengthen an existing working relationship with the Foundation.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Foundation, Aliyu Sidi Attahiru expressed his delight to the Zonal Commander and his entourage for initiating the visit as a means of recognizing the Foundation’s collaborative activities with NAPTIP. After introduction of the management team as well as volunteers of the Foundation, the Chairman welcomed the Zonal Commander to Sokoto and reiterated the postures of good working relationship that exists between NAPTIP and ASATTAHIR Foundation. He also urged the leadership of the organization to improve on an existing robust synergy between the two organizations.
In his response, the Zonal Commander delivered a speech particularly on the standing of NAPTIP as a public agency, its activities as provided by the law and the need for collaboration with other organizations in the fight against trafficking in human persons, child labor and exploitation and other forms of crimes being committed against the vulnerable groups. In his speech, he acknowledged the need for collaboration with outfits such as ASATTAHIR Foundation in the discharge of their statutory functions. He commended ASATTAHIR for their deligence and steadfastness in the protection and promotion of the dignity of the weak, less previlleged and other vulnerable groups in the society. The newly posted Zonal Commander was full of praise for ASATTAHIR on account of existing records that shows their resolve in providing humanitarian services to the people.
On the other hand, the Executive Secretary of the Foundation, Prof. Yahaya T. Baba thanked the Zonal Commander and his entourage for the visit and the courtesy associated with it. Prof. Yahaya recounted some of the activities that have over the years brought the two organizations together as partners, and emphasized that NAPTIP remain a strategic partner of ASATTAHIR given the focus of the outfit whose strategic aim is to empower people for sustainable development. Areas such as identification and reporting of suspected incidences of rights violation of vulnerable people, supporting survivors of violence and exploitation with food, shelter and basic needs and their reintegration with their families.
The Legal Adviser of the Foundation, Barrister Rashidat Mohammed was also full of commendation for NAPTIP for their doggedness and resilience in the fight against crimes related to the abuse and exploitation of the weak and vulnerable people in the society.
The meeting was rounded off with a group picture and exchanges of pleasantries among people from both sides of the organizations.
