As part of it’s commitment to improve the health condition of the people, particularly the less privileged and vulnerable groups, ASATTAHIR International Foundation supports and participates in an elaborate awareness campaign on the dreadful ailment of Sickle Cell Anemia. The genetic disorder is reported to be rampant and on the rise in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. As an ailment that is caused by the mismatch genotype of couples, raising awareness amongst the people is seen by experts as the remedy to the widespread prevalence of the disease.
As part of it’s continued support for the vulnerable groups, the Foundation supports a Community Development Project by a serving Corps member in Gwadabawa Local Government Area of Sokoto State. At the opening ceremony, the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Sokoto State on NGOs, Human Rights and Donor Agencies, Ubaida Bello commended the corps member and indeed other collaborators in their efforts to enlighten the people on the scourge of the disease and strategies for effective management of the victims.
The ceremony was concluded with screening of dignitaries at the event. The Sole Administrator gave votes of thanks and presented certificates of recognition to partners of the project.
Meanwhile, five hundred people will be randomly screened from the five wards of the eleven wards in Gwadabawa Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The project will run for five weeks.
