Zulaihatu Sani hails from Mubi in Adamawa state, Nigeria. She escaped the tragedy of Boko Haram insurgency sometimes in 2015. Zulaihat’s husband was gruesomely murdered in her presence and lost her farther in a similar tragedy in another part of the state. Traumatized by violent deaths of her husband and farther, she arrived Sokoto as an IDP with early pregnancy. While in Sokoto, she wanders around for alms and support for livelihood. She later delivered a baby boy at the Maryam Abacha Women and Children’s Hospital. The boy, now four years old is named Buhari.
Given the pathetic condition of Zulaihatu and her child, ASATTAHIR International foundation has been responsible for her three square meals including the child. Thereafter, the foundation was contacted to extend its support for her, particularly in the area of shelter.
After series of interactions with Zulaihatu alongside other well meaning members of the neighborhood, where she squats, the foundation secure and erected moderately decent shelter for her. In addition to the shelter, the foundation also made all the necessary arrangements to enroll her son, Buhari in a nearby Primary School.
