ASATTAHIR International Foundation Participated in an International Conference on Gender-Based Violence in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State:

As one of the widely recognised platforms committed to the course women empowerment and Girl Child Rights, ASATTAHIR International Foundation participated, on the invitation, in an International Conference on Gender-Based Violence held at Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi state. The conference, which was organized by ZAKI’s GEM General Services LTD from the 30th to 31st October, 2019 featured presentations and lectures on various aspects and dimensions of Gender-Based Violence. As one of resource organizations, the delegation of ASATTAHIR Foundation, under the leadership of it’s founder and Chairman Board of Trustees, Aliyu Sidi Attahiru delivered a lecture on the dignity of the girl child and women folk. The lecture reflected on the various misconceptions about women and misinterpretations of their status and roles in the society. Aliyu Sidi Attahiru elaborated in the lecture some of the traditional practices that violates the dignity of girl child and women, particularly in Northern Nigeria and called on stakeholders to contribute to emancipation and empowerment of women as the bedrock for sustainable development.
The occasion was attended by dignitaries from the government circle, NGOs, CSOs, the private sector as well as the traditional and religious institutions.
The sokoto state Commissioner for Higher Education and the Head of the Kebbi state Civil Service represented their Excellencies, the Governors of Sokoto and Kebbi states. Other dignitaries include the Wazirin Gwandu, who represented the Sultan and Emir if Gwandu, the representative of Etsu Nupe, representative of Kebbi state First Lady among other top personalities.
The conference was concluded today the 31st October, 2019 after communique was red out to the press.
