ASATTAHIR International Foundation Participated in a Consultative Meeting of Stakeholders on Disaster Management Organized by NEMA:

As one of the strategic partners of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), ASATTAHIR International Foundation participated in a One Day Consultative and Interactive Meeting on Disaster Management in Sokoto state. The meeting of stakeholders was at the instance of NEMA with the view to enhancing the capacity of critical partners in disaster management. The intrecation and consultation took place today the 8th of October, 2019. The occasion was attended by relevant organizations such as the Army, Airforce, Immigration and Custom services, State Emergency Management Agency, the Police, Civil Defence and Road Safety Corps, Fire Service, Ministries of Environment, Health, Water Resources, Agriculture and the Rima Basin Development Authority among other notable organizations related to disaster management.
During the interaction, the zonal Director of NEMA remarked that the meeting is aimed at engaging the critical stakeholders for the development of sustainable framework for effective disaster management. He asserted that expertise in disaster management cut across different organizations whose support is necessary and essential in responding to disasters of various sorts.
During the interaction, representatives of various organizations spoke on their areas of expertise and their readiness to contribute in collaboration with NEMA in response to disaster in the state. On it’s part, ASATTAHIR International Foundation, represented by it’s chairman, Aliyu Sidi Attahiru commended NEMA for this novel initiative and commitment to forging partnership and synergy for effective disaster management in the state.
The meeting was concluded after fruitful deliberations and useful exchanges among the participants. It was also agreed that the interaction and consultation will continue monthly at the instance of NEMA.
