ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) represented by its Head of Programs and Research, Rufus Yagkong participated in a 3-Day capacity building workshop organized by New Initiative for Social Development (NISD) for GBV service providers in Sokoto state and for the establishment of identified referral pathways along the TRIMING project schemes.
In her opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Women and Children Affairs highlighted some of the efforts the ministry has made and the achievements it recorded over the years in the areas of GBV mitigation through awareness and advocacy and response through appropriate services based on survivors’ needs such as health, shelter, counseling, psychosocial support and empowerment etc. as well as arrest and prosecution of parpetrators.
During the 3 days of intensive training, the participants were taken through array of sessions on GBV issues by experts, dissecting through; the overview of GBV, link between gender and GBV, basic survivors needs, legal frameworks, legislations, policies and human rights.
The participants were also navigated through the overview and effective approaches to SGBV case management. The concluding sessions during the workshop included group work and presentations on GBV case management by the participants.
The expectations of the participants to have an enhanced capacity on approaches and effective GBV case management were achieved.
