On the 3rd November 2023, ASATTAHIR International Foundation’s team led by the Founder and Chairman Board of Trustees, Aliyu Sidi Attahiru paid an advocacy visit to the District Head of Bodinga.
This is part of the preparatory activities preceding the distribution of emergency shelter kits to identified vulnerable groups in Sokoto state, particularly Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Refugees.
The intervention was supported by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) a multinational donor organization with the track record of responding to humanitarian needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups such as IDPs and Refugees in Nigeria over a decade.
In his remarks, the Founder stated that AIF is mapping out Bodinga LGA based on the influx of internally displaced persons from the neighboring LGAs and states like Kebbi, Zamfara into the LGA.
He noted that after successful screening of beneficiaries, AIF Project Management Team (PMT) will work closely with the government and traditional institutions in the distribution of Emergency Shelter Kits (ESKs) to the most deserving households/beneficiaries across all locations in the state.
The Executive Secretary of the Foundation, Prof. Yahaya Tanko Baba stated that after completion of the screening exercise, the target beneficiaries constitute refugees and internally displaced persons in Bodinga LGA who were forced out of their settlements and lost their livelihoods as a result of conflicts, insecurity or natural disasters.
The District Head Alh. Mohammadu Bello Abdulrauf expressed his delight with the visit and noted that Bodinga has a handful of internally displaced persons with limited access to shelter and basic needs.
He appreciated the Foundation for mapping his community among other locations for the distribution of the items. He assured the Foundation of all the needed support for the success of the activity
The discussions ended with a group photograph.
