The project team of ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) led by the Founder and Chairman Board of Trustees Aliyu Sidi Attahiru has on 28th March, 2024 paid an advocacy visit to the office of the Special Adviser State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA)
The purpose of the visit was to seek the Agency’s support and to strengthen the existing relationship and coordination of the planned activities in the field.
In his remarks, AIF’s Founder stated that AIF as implementing partners from Danish Refugee Council (DRC) through funding from the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) to respond to the displacement of IDPs in Tangaza LGA. He also recalled that SEMA was part of the various stakeholders that participated in the stakeholder’s workshop hosted by DRC and AIF in February 2024.
He therefore stated that AIF is distributing relief items across four sectors to IDPs and refugees who were displaced to Masallaci community in Tangaza LGA. Of the 1,584 total items to be distributed, 182 IDPs will benefit from hygiene kits,
menstrual hygiene management kits 445, total of 890 non-food items as well as 67 shelter rehabilitation kits.
He added that with close monitoring and technical support from DRC, AIF is engaging with relevant stakeholders in the state and the community before proceeding to beneficiary profiling, distribution and post distribution monitoring.
Receiving the visiting team, the Special Adviser SEMA, Alhaji Nasiru Garba Kalambaina commended AIF for always following due processes and carrying relevant stakeholders along in all its activities.
He expressed excitement and confidence that DRC’s coming to the northwest particularly Sokoto will greatly compliment the existing efforts of the state government in bringing relief to the displaced persons and vulnerable populations.
While assuring AIF of the Agency’s support, Special Adviser also expressed optimism that DRC’s partnership with AIF as a homegrown organization with verifiable track records in the humanitarian and development sectors etc, will greatly minimize the protection concerns caused by conflicts, man made and natural disasters in the state.
