As a mark of respect for the plight of Children all over the world, ASATTAHIR Foundation celebrated with the students of GGDSS Badon Barade, today the 27th day of May, 2021 at the school premises. The ceremony was hosted by the Principal of the school, Hajiya Ramatu Halidu and chaired by the Hon. Commissioner of Education, who was represented by the by the Director Quality Assurance of the Ministry, Alhaji Aĺiyu Jodi Tambuwal. Oher dignitaries at the occasion include the Special Guest of Honour, Hajiya Lubabatu Abubakar, Director General, Women and Girl Child Education, Permanent Member, Teachers’ Service Board, Hajiya Laraba Dattijo and the traditional ruler of the Bado, Alhaji Labaran Barade.
The ceremony featured academic and social exhibitions by students around the significance of Girl Child Education. On one hand, two teams competed in the debate on a motion that ‘Girl Child Education Ends in the Kitchen’. Both teams in the debate displayed excellent skills that reminded the guests at the ceremony of the glorious days of high standards of education in public schools. The invited guests were amazed with fluence, eloquence, articulation, style and depth of knowledge of both members of the two teams in the debate. The drama segment of the ceremony was also educative as much as it was entertaining by the students.
Prizes were given to the best and second best speakers in the debate and the team that won the debate. Other recipients of the ceremony ‘s award include most punctual students across the classes and the most neatest of the students across the levels in the school. The Principal also received on behalf of the school, a gift of Public Address System for the school. All the gifts were courtesy of ASATTAHIR International Foundation as motivation to both students and teachers in the school.
In their goodwill messages, the representative of the Commissioner of Education and Director Quality Assurance of the Ministry commended the efforts of ASATTAHIR and the school management for a wonderful outing at the ceremony. He acknowledged the tremendous efforts of the Foundation for the development projects in the school and elsewhere in other schools and in the education sector in general.
On her part the Director
General, Women and Girl Child Education was full of praise for the persistent commitment of the Foundation and the diligence of the teachers of the schools for the sustained improvement in the qualiy of students being trained.
In her remarks, Hajiya Laraba Dattijo also commended both the Foundation and the school management and implore them to keep up the good work.
Earlier on the Executive Secretary of the Foundation, Prof. Yahaya T. Baba gave a brief overview of the Foundation and its passion and commitment to enhancing and facilitating the empowerment of the people, particularly vulnerable groups such as women and girls. He reiterated the resolve of the Foundation to continue to partner with government and other development partners for the improved educational development of children.
On her part the Legal Adviser of Foundation, Barrister Rashida Mohammed gave a talk on the scourge rape and the need to cooperate in the fight against rape and other forms of gender based violence, particularly in schools and other non-school environment. The Chairman of the Foundation, Aliyu Sidi Attahiru in his remarks congratulated students and children for a happy children’s day and encouraged them to be focused on their studies in order to become worthy and proud members of their families and the society. He also called on the government at all levels to adopt strict and effective measures and policies for the protection and safety of children for sustainable human development.
A poem dedicated to the Foundation was also red out by a female teacher in the school, Malama Shaima’u Abdulhamid as part of the school’s appreciation of the tremendous help and assistance given to the school by ASATTAHIR Foundation.
The Principal in her closing remarks commended ASATTAHIR Foundation for their special interest in the school and the numerous other projects executed by the Foundation in the school.
The ceremony was rounded off with pageantry from students and echoes of complementary song for the Foundation sponsored by the management of the school.
