*ASATTAHIR INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION MET WITH THE MINISTRY OF HUMANITARIAN AFFAIRS, DISASTER MANAGEMENT AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT SOKOTO STATE ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF RELIEF MATERIALS TO IDPS IN TANGAZA LGA WITH FUNDING FROM ECHO AS IMPLEMENTING PARTNERS FOR THE DANISH REFUGEE COUNCIL (DRC)*

On the 28th March 2024, the Founder and Chairman Board of Trustees of ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF), Aliyu Sidi Attahiru alongside the project management team on the Danish Refugee Council’s ‘Emergency Response’ project met with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sokoto.

The purpose of the visit was to inform the Ministry of the planned response with a view to ensuring successful implementation of project deliverables. In his remarks, AIF’s Founder stated that AIF as implementing partner for Danish Refugee Council (DRC) with funding from the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) will be responding to the humanitarian needs of the IDPs in Tangaza LGA.

The Founder further noted that AIF had earlier conducted a rapid needs assessment of the IDPs in Masallaci community in Tangaza LGA to unearth the situations and needs of the displaced persons in that axis. He recalled that the Ministry took part in stakeholder’s engagement workshop hosted by DRC and AIF in February 2024.

He stated that AIF will distribute relief items that includes hygiene kits, menstrual hygiene management kits, Shelter improved- NFI kits and shelter rehabilitation kits to 1,584 IDPs and refugees in Tangaza LGA.

While assuring AIF his Ministry’s readiness to support in responding to the needs of the displaced persons in Tangaza LGA, the Honorable Commissioner Alh. Ya’u Muhammad Danda thanked DRC mobilizing resources to alleviate the hardship faced by the displaced persons in the northwest.

AIF assured to notify the ministry on the distribution date after a successful stakeholders engagement and beneficiary profiling.
