As one of the Partners of Mariya Tambuwal Development Initiative, ASATTAHIR attended, on invitation, the presentation of cash donations to 200 survivors of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Sokoto state. The ceremony took place on the 29th November, 2021at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Hall of the Sokoto state Government.
The ceremony featured presentations on the Islamic perspectives of the fight against GBV as well as goodwill messages from Development Partners, Donors and collaborators of the MTDI. In his goodwill messege, Prof. Yahaya T. Baba, the Executive Secretary of ASATTAHIR Foundation eulogies MTDI for its sustained commitment in the fight against the scourge of GBV in Sokoto state and the empowerment of children, women and the vulnerable groups generally.
Highpoint of the event witnessed the presentation of cash donations by her Excellency, the First Lady, Hajiya Mariya Waziri Tambuwal. In her speech, Hajiya Mariya lamented on the rising incidences of GBV and called on stakeholders to remain active, vigilant and proactive in the fight against menace of GBV.
As a courtesy and Mark recognition to ASATTAHIR as a partner of MTDI, Aliyu Sidi Attahiru, the Chairman of Board of Trustees symbolically presented cash donations to two of the beneficiaries.
The ceremony was rounded off with pageantry, music and prayers for the First Lady, Mariya Waziri Tambuwal and MTDI as a humanitarian platform.
