On the 8th November 2023, ASATTAHIR International Foundation paid a visit to the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Sokoto.
AIF Team was received by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Women and Children Affairs HajiyaAishatu Dan tsoho Mni, alongside Director Admin, Director Finance and deputy Director Admin.
The Founder ASATTAHIR International Foundation Aliyu Sidi Attahiru applauded the ministry for its resilience in advocating for the protection and empowerment of women, responding to the social needs and upholding the fundamental rights of women and children in the state.
He used the medium to intimate the Permanent Secretary on the opportunity the Foundation secured to support 170 households of internally displaced persons and refugees with Emergency Shelter Kits and Non Food Items through Danish Refugee Council, Nigeria.
He added that the Site Mangers under the leadership of the Head of Programs and Research Rufus Yagkong have successfully concluded the screening process of all eligible beneficiaries across three locations in the state i.e Ramin Kura IDP camp, Gwiwa EKA IDP settlement and IDPs in Bodinga LGA.
Noting that the beneficiaries largely consisted of women with no shelter, women led households of IDPs) refugees, pregnant women and the elderly among others, it became necessary for the Foundation to engage with the ministry to ensure sustained impact.
Secretary to ASATTAHIR International Foundation Prof. Yahaya Tanko Baba recalled how the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs has made the working environment conducive to development partners like AIF in the state to contribute in their own little ways in complementing the efforts of the government.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary praised ASATTAHIR International Foundation for being a long time partner of the ministry and for demonstrating willingness and capacity to serve humanity.
She noted that over the years AIF has been complimenting the efforts of the government in many ways and its impact is felt in the state.
She assured to maintain the relationship between the Foundation and the ministry and to give the Foundation all the support it needs during and after the distribution of the shelter kits and non food items.
