In continuation of the distribution Non-Food Items to IDPs and Refugees in Sokoto state, ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) with support from the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Nigeria, covered some identified beneficiaries in Bodinga LGA ,Sokoto state.
The distribution exercise was conducted in the premises of the traditional ruler of Bodinga as planned by the Intervention Implementation Team of ASATTAHIR Foundation. This resolution was taken during the meeting held with the community members and representatives of the traditional council on 5th November, 2023.
At the brief event, hhe Executive Secretary of the Foundation Prof. Yahaya Tanko Baba commiserated with the beneficiaries for the untold hardship they are exposed to since tgeir displacements from their various settlements.
He also thanked the Traditional Council for accommodating the IDPs in their communities and for treating them with respect and dignity.
The Founder and Chairman Board of Trustees of ASATTAHIR International Foundation, Aliyu Sidi Attahiru appreciated the Taditional Council of Bodinga for supporting his staff, particularly the distribution committee in the series of activities that involved awareness campaign, screening process of beneficiaries and the distribution exercise.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance to the selection criteria by his staff under the leadership of the Head of Programs & Research, Rufus Yagkong.
He equally commended all stakeholders for treating the beneficiaries with dignity and respect. He also advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items donated to them and not to dispose them by any means.
Speaking on behalf of the Traditional Ruler of Bodinga, the Secretary of the tmTraditional Council Mal. Malami Hassan thanked Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) for working together to provide relief to some of the weighty burdens IDPs/refugees carry along with them.
He noted that the items distributed will go along way in reducing some of the humanitarian and protection challenges the IDPs face.
A total of 35 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) benefited from the intervention in Bodinga LGA. Beneficiaries expressed joy after receiving the items and assured the team that the items will preserved for their exclusive use.
