ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) has participated in a 3-day state level orientation for Covid-19 response mechanism and resilient sustainable system for health project in Sokoto state from 25th to 27th March, 2024 with funding from the Global Fund.
The project is being implemented by a consortium of networks; Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN), TB network and Civil Society for Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN).
AIF will be implementing in no fewer than three wards in Bodinga LGA targeting tertiary, secondary and primary health facilities within the project timeline.
In their respective goodwill messages, the state coordinators of NEPHWAN Comrade Husseini Muhammad, TB network Mr. Abudu Yusuf and ACOMIN Mr. Abdulganiyu Abubakar (represented)
they all congratulated the successful CBOs for scaling through the assessment and validation processes. They called on the CBOs to be professional and ensure strict compliance to the project deliverables.
Part of the key objectives of the project is to deliver integrated, people-centered services to address an individual’s multiple health needs at different points in their lives, improving overall health with a more cost-effective and efficient approach.
As well as to strengthen community systems and community-led programming and help integrate them into national health and social systems.
These systems are vital for ending HIV, TB and malaria as public health threats, producing better health outcomes for all and delivering health services in a sustainable, equitable and effective manner.
Therefore, the onboarding training was aimed at building the capacity of CBOs on Community Led Monitoring (CLM) as well as to train them on the broad concept and strategies to be utilized during the project implementation in their respective areas of coverage.
Sessions during the orientation exercise covered the background of the project, overview of the C19RM and RSSH, project/finance management, group works and role plays etc.
Participants and partners during the activity included the Executive Secretary Sokoto State Agency for the Control of Aids and Tuberculosis, Sokoto Ministry of Health (SMoH), the Executive Directors and Program officers of the 15 successful CBOs, community leaders and WDC representatives across the 5 LGAs mapped for the intervention.
The 3-day orientation exercise ended with a group photograph and exchange of pleasantries.
