Today 17th May 2024, personnel of the Federal Fire Service Sokoto state command led by the Commandant Suleiman Mohammed Suleiman paid a courtesy visit to ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF).
Speaking during the visit, the state commandant stated that the essence of the visit was to strengthen relationship and explore more areas of collaboration between the FFS and AIF.
He commended the Foundation for the good work it is doing in the state and touching lives positively.
He recalled the research conducted by AIF titled ‘Fire Disaster Preparedness and Response in Sokoto state’ and noted that the key findings and recommendations profered by the research are pivotal to the prevention of fire incidents in the state.
He added that the essence of both the Federal Fire Service and the State Fire Service is not just to respond to fire calls rather to prevent it from happening in the first place.
He called on AIF to lend more of its expertise in the fight against fire incidences in the state through resilient partnerships, collaboration with the fire departments, sensitization and advocacy etc.
Receiving the visiting team, the Founder and Chairman Board of Trustees of ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) Aliyu Sidi Attahiru thanked the Commandant of the Federal Fire Service for leading his team to AIF’s office.
He noted that AIF has always been concerned about the protection of the general public particularly the vulnerable groups and their well-being in general. Which is why all it’s interventions are carefully designed to address certain issues of concern in the northwest.
He also added that, AIF in partnership with various ministries and developments in Sokoto state has been able to respond to the basic needs of victims of natural disasters and internally displaced persons as a result of conflicts and insecurity through shock reduction, facilitating faster recovery.
He stated that the visit was timely and AIF is is open for collaboration and partnership with the FFS and many other partners across various sectors.
He also assured of the Foundation’s support to the Federal Fire Service, Sokoto command. the meeting ended with exchange of pleasantries and photographs.
