ASATTAHIR International Foundation AIF has on the 14th December 2023 under the umbrella of Coalition of NGOs participated in Sokoto state 2024 budget public hearing which was held at state house of assembly complex.
Civil Society Organizations and multinational partners lauded the Sokoto state government through the house appropriation committee for giving CSOs the opportunity to make positive inputs in the 2024 draft budget.
Having critically reviewed the 2024 draft budget, CSOs and multinational partners highlighted to the committee some critical areas the government should prioritized.
This includes job creation to boost internally generated revenue, vocational skills for youths, women’s rights and empowerment, security as well as monitoring and evaluation of projects in the state.
CSOs and development partners also called on the appropriation committee to ensure that the 2024 budget allocation for health sector aligns with the 15 percent Abuja declaration of 2021 where African Union countries made a commitment to allocate at least 15 percent of their annual budgets to health sector.
Civil Society Organizations and multinational partners also urged the government to prioritize counterpart funding for health interventions by donor agencies for the year 2024
The house committee appreciated the CSOs and implementing partners in the state for their valuable inputs and assured that all inputs made were duly noted.
