ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) has participated in the monthly coordination meeting organized by Sokoto Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), held at the conference hall of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Sokoto on 27th July, 2022. The foundation was represented by its’ Head of Programs and Research Rufus Yagkong.
As SEMA strive to ensure adequate prevention and response to emergencies in the state through development of effective preventive and response measures, the monthly coordination meeting was initiated in order to create a forum where development partners in the state (both locally and internationally) give updates on their various interventions in the state and share experiences for improved synergy and better outcome.
During the meeting, priority was given to both the humanitarian and developmental needs of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) within the metropolis. This includes provision of shelter and basic amenities needed at the newly allocated IDP camp. Noting the critical conditions the IDPs are in, the Agency called on development partners and stakeholders to support the project in ways they can in order to provide the IPDs with a safe and decent living condition.
The meeting came to an end with commitments from development partners and relevant stakeholders in the state.
