Delegation of ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) led by its founder and Chairman Board of Trustees, Aliyu SIdi Attahiru has on Thursday, 10th February 2022 paid an advocacy visit to UNICEF Sokoto Field Office.
The team was received by the UNICEF’s Child Protection Specialist, Mr. Pius Uwamanua who oversees Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states. In his speech, the Chairman, Aliyu Sidi Attahiru thanked UNICEF field office Sokoto for granting the request for the advocacy visit despite their tight schedules.
In his speech, he acknowledged the tremendous and selfless interventions of UNICEF in Sokoto state, especially interventions on child protection, education and war against GBV. He stated that, those interventions aligns with the thematic areas of the foundation.
Stating the purpose of the team’s visit, the founder formally informed UNICEF of its registration with and having an account as United Nations Partner and how the mission and the thematic areas of the foundation especially child protection, education, nutrition, health etc. aligns with those of the UN agencies. He highlighted some of the success stories the foundation over the years particularly in the areas of; nutrition where the organization feeds nearly 40,000 persons in Sokoto state annually through its daily feeding program which targets women, girls, OVCs, survivors of human trafficking (through collaboration with NAPTIP Sokoto), students and PLWDs.
He further added that the foundation is passionate about livelihood and empowerment programs for adolescent girls in the state, where it donated training kits to Female Education Board Sokoto which benefited 400 in-school girls and ro make them self-reliant.
For the sole desire of serving humanity and impacting lives positively, he concluded by seeking opportunities for collaborations with UNICEF in the areas of capacity building, training programs for AIF personnel and other relevant tools to enable the foundation impact more lives positively in Sokoto and beyond.
The Child Protection Specialist UNICEF field office Mr. Pius Uwamanua was pleased to receive the team and to hear their immense contributions in humanitarian endeavors. He commended AIF for the good work and charged them to keep up the good work.
He also encouraged the foundation to leverage on the opportunities frequently made available by the United Nations to secure more funding in order to impact more lives. He assured of the UNICEF’s support to the training needs of the foundation.
The meeting was rounded up by interactive discursions around some of the works and partners of the foundation, its coverage as well as its target beneficiaries. The founder and Chairman Board of Trustees of ASATTAHIR International Foundation, Aliyu Sidi Attahiru presented few copies of the foundation’s brochure to UNICEF which captured some of the interventions of the foundation.
