ASATTAHIR INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION (AIF) MEETS THE NIGERIA INTERNATIONAL NGOS FORUM*

On 4th April 2023, ASATTAHIR International Foundation and other development partners have met with the team of the Nigeria INGO Forum on familiarization visit to the state.

Receiving the visiting team in his office on behalf of Sokoto state government, the Honorable Commissioner Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Alh. Abubakar Abdullahi Dange alongside the Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Amina Muhammad Jekada, the Director Humanitarian Affairs Alh. Umar Isa as well as the Director of Finance Alh. Sanusi Aminu Ladan welcomed the Country Director Nigeria INGO Forum Camilla Corradin, Lynn Van Beek and
Musa Baba Northwest Coordinator Nigeria INGO Forum.

The Country Director Nigeria INGO Forum Camilla Corradin in her remarks thanked the Commissioner and his team as well as various development partners in the state for the warm reception. She highlighted that the 54-member Forum aims to provide a collective platform for international NGOs to coordinate actions, exchange information and advocate for a principled and effective delivery of much needed synergy with and opportunities for local partners and to enhance resilience in assistaning affected population in Nigeria.

She added that what formed the basis of their visit to Sokoto was to have an indepth understanding of various works and best practices of local partners, identify gaps and priority areas, build synergy and strengthen resilience between the government and partners for effective service delivery in the state.

Highlighting some of the work ASATTAHIR International Foundation is doing in the state, the Head of Programs and Research of the Foundation Rufus Yagkong pointed out to the daily feeding program of at least 100 beneficiaries, rapid response interventions to orphaned and vulnerable children, IDPs, and the recent publication of research on fire d!saster preparedness and response. He also noted that the Foundation is soon embarking on a fresh research on issues surrounding IDPs across some selected Northwestern states of Nigeria.

The Founder and Chairman Board of Trustees of the Foundation Aliyu Sidi Attahiru had the pleasure of presenting a copy of the recently published and disseminated research work AIF has conducted on fire d!saster preparedness and response in Sokoto state to the Country Director Nigeria INGO Forum Camilla Corradin.

This came shortly after the Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs presented copies of Sokoto state Emergency Contingency Plan 2022-2023 to the visiting team. He assured of his Ministry’s continued support and willingness to ensure all registered organizations in the state enjoy an enabling environment to operate in the state.

The meeting ended with group photograph and exchange of pleasantries.
