On Saturday, 9th May 2026, ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) joined partners and stakeholders in Sokoto state to commemorate World Red Cross Day. The event brought together humanitarian actors, emergency response agencies, volunteers, and development organizations to celebrate the spirit of humanity, compassion, and service to vulnerable populations. The theme for this year’s commemoration was “United for Humanity.”
The commemoration featured a colorful rally through major parts of Sokoto metropolis aimed at raising public awareness on humanitarian service, disaster preparedness, and community support.
The event also included practical demonstrations and emergency response simulations designed to showcase the importance of preparedness, coordination, and rapid response during emergencies.
Among the stakeholders that participated in the event were security agencies, the Federal Fire Service, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), associations of persons living with disabilities (PLWDs), members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and members of the Press.
This year’s commemoration highlights the importance of collaboration and inclusiveness in humanitarian response and community resilience building.
