*ASATTAHIR INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION (AIF) IN PARTNERSHIP WITH DANISH REFUGEE COUNCIL (DRC)DISTRIBUTED RELIEF MATERIALS TO IDPs IN KAURA NAMODA LGA IN ZAMFARA STATE WITH FUNDING FROM ECHO*

ASATTAHIR INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION (AIF) has on the 26th of May 2024 distributed relief items to 16,760 internally displaced persons across 4,190 households from Zurmi and Kaura Namoda LGAs, Zamfara state.

The IDPs, in search for safety, moved to Kaura Namoda LGA largely due to the activities of Non-State Armed Groups (NSAG) in their communities.

The European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) funded project is implemented by Danish Refugee Council through its implementing partner ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) in Zamfara State.

The items distributed to internally displaced persons in Kaura Namoda LGA included Basic Hygiene Kits, Non-Food Items and Shelter Rehabilitation Kits.

These items include blankets, sleeping mats, jerry cans, pots, plates, bathing and washing soaps, mosquito nets, reusable sanitary pads, wrappers as well as bundles of zinc, woods, nails, tarpaulins, batten’s.

The safety of lives and properties in some parts of the state has continued to be undermined by the agonizing activities of non-satate armed groups in the state which greatly undermine peace, stability and the general well-being of the people. This has caused unbearable hardships among the locals.

The distribution of these relief items to the IDPs in Kaura Namoda is part of AIF’s support to
cushioning the shock and facilitating faster recovery from the setbacks being experienced by the IDPs in the course of their displacements. The program is also a testament of DRC’s commitment to responding to the emergencies in the northwest through collaborations, partnerships with local and reputable organizations and stakeholders engagements.
