ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) has participated in a 2-day workshop for Sokoto state key stakeholders on emergency disaster preparedness and coordination hosted by SEMA in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and UNICEF from 10th to 11 June 2025.
Activities during the workshop included presentations on risk analysis, humanitarian coordination, plenary sessions, review of SOPs and simulation exercises on sudden onset of flood scenarios in the state.
Various preparedness tools were presented, including sector leads and members were reviewed by participants during group activities.
By the end of the 2-day workshop, participants successfully finalized SOPs based on the simulation outcomes while SEMA coordinates the harmonization and of the sector leads and members.
Giving the closing remarks on behalf of the Special Adviser of SEMA, the Director R&R Mustapha Umar thanked all participants for their active participation during the workshop. He thanked NEMA and UNICEF for their immense contribution towards the success of the workshop.
He assured that SEMA will ensure that the resources invested into the workshop translates into tangible outcomes that would shape the disaster preparedness and coordination in Sokoto state.
