ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) has on Sunday, 24th December 2023 hosted representatives of people living with disabilities (PLWDs) and members of the Caliphate Sickle Cell Initiative Sokoto for lunch.
This is part of the Foundation’s drive to leave no one behind in the actualization of a gender equitable and social inclusive (GESI) society.
Receiving the guests, the Founder and Chairman Board of Trustees of the Foundation Aliyu Sidi Attahiru commended the two groups for their resilience in changing the narratives in the state.
He stated that gender and development as well as social inclusion are some of the priority areas of the Foundation.
The Founder also noted that the aim of the lunch was for AIF to understand their existing efforts, best practices and some of the lessons learned which would birth meaningful and impactful interventions in the state.
The Founder made cash donations to the Secretary Joint National Association of People with Disabilities and
the Caliphate Sickle Cell Initiative as part of the Foundation’s contribution towards their work in the state.
In the same vein, the Executive Secretary of the Foundation Prof. Yahaya Tanko Baba reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to prioritize gender equality and social inclusion in 2024 calendar year.
Similarly, the AIF’s legal Adviser Barr. Rashida Mohammad expressed her fascination by the level of resilience demonstrated by PLWDs and people living with sickle cell anemia in the state. She expressed optimism that GESI in the state is achievable.
AIF’s Head of Programs and Research Rufus Yagkong, assured to harmonize the Foundation’s 2024 work plan to include series of engagements with them.
The secretary of Joint National Association of People with Disabilities Secretary Mukhtar Sani Doki and the Media officer Caliphate Sickle Cell Initiative Dalhatu Bello Gazobi expressed their profound gratitude for the honor and privilege given to them by the Foundation.
They assured to work closely with the Foundation in the development and execution of the 2024 work plan.
The lunch which ended with a group photograph marked aifs closeout activity for the year 2023.
