ASATTAHIR INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION (AIF) has on the 28th of April 2024 distributed relief items to 8,398 internally displaced persons across 1,584 households in Tangaza LGA.
These IDPs are displaced largely as a result of the activities of non-State armed groups (NSAG) within and outside their communities.
The European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) funded project is implemented by Danish Refugee Council through its implementing partner ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) in Sokoto State.
The items distributed to internally displaced persons in Tangaza LGA included Basic hygiene kits, Shelter Improved NFI kits and shelter rehabilitation kits. These include blankets, sleeping mats, jerry cans, pots, plates, bathing and washing soaps, mosquito nets, reusable sanitary pads, wrappers others include bundles of zinc, woods, nails, tarpaulins, Batten’s etc.
The incidences of displacements in Sokoto state have continued to expose the affected populations particularly women and girls to unimaginable hardship and risks of human rights violations.
With coordinated response to the plight of the affected populations, the teaming number of IDPs without any form of support will be greatly reduced.
