ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) is deeply heartbroken by the tragic petrol tanker explosion that occurred on October 15, 2024, in Majiya town, Jigawa state, resulting in significant loss of lives and grave injuries.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Jigawa state, particularly the families of the victims of the unfortunate incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with them, and we wish those receiving medical treatment a speedy recovery.
Sadly, fire incidents have become a recurring issue in Nigeria, claiming lives and destroying properties worth billions annually. It is in the light these recurring incidences of fire disaster that AIF conducted research on fire disaster preparedness and response in Sokoto state.
Our study identified key factors contributing to fire outbreaks and provided actionable recommendations for mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. By prioritizing these measures, we can reduce the devastating effects of fire incidents and create safer communities.
May the souls of departed rest in peace and may the injured recover speedily and sustainably.
